Prof Anthonia Sowunmi

Prof. Anthonia C. Sowunmi is a consultant clinical and radiation oncologist at the NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre in Nigeria. She is the first female associate professor of radiation oncology in Nigeria and the leader of the LUTH ARETTA HER2-positive breast cancer trial. Principal Investigator(PI) of LUTH SITE for Prostate Cancer Transatlantic Consortium (CaPTC) conducting prostate cancer research. LUTH Site PI of The National Cancer Institute’s Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) conducting a comprehensive and coordinated effort to accelerate the understanding of the molecular basis of cancer.
PI of LUTH Site for a multi-center, multi-continents clinical trial in metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma.
She specializes in treating breast, gynecological, colorectal, and prostate cancers using advanced radiation techniques. She is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, International College of Surgeons, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Union for International Cancer Control. She is also a member of several professional associations in the field of radiation oncology, both in Africa and internationally.
